Moving Australia Toward the Circular Economy

Through the leadership of Government and a receptive industry environment, NSW has pioneered industrial ecology in the country and delivered some excellent results. In Sydney, the Sydney Industrial Ecology Network (SIEN) has been founded and developed strong foundations in the manufacturing, food and building sectors, diversion of over 6,000t of recyclable material this financial year.  Fascinating case studies are emerging about major pallet re-use systems being established in industrial settings and office strip out waste recycling rates being improved from 60% to 20%

Bringing his expertise in the Circular Economy and Industrial Ecology, Gary Foster is leveraging his experience in the UK’s multi-award winning National Industrial Symbiosis Programme (NISP) to enhance Edge Environments existing capacity in this space.

Gary Foster’s piece How to move Australia toward a circular economy is an article written for WME Magazine describing the systematic approach to increasing business collaboration in order to accelerate progress toward a circular economy.
