Edge Environment’s monthly ‘Make More Good’ donation sends $300 to a worthy cause nominated by a staff member. In October 2020, Edge’s Sustainability Consultant, Elizabeth Cuan, chose the Royal Flying Doctor Service to be the recipient.

Many people outside Australia might have never heard about the Royal Flying Doctor (RFD), but I’m convinced all Australians have.
I first learned about the RFD while traveling to Dubbo. On this trip someone suggested the RFD museum and I was honestly expecting a museum about fixing planes but what we found was way better. It was a museum about what the RFD does, a museum about solidarity and heroes that just happened to use planes.
The idea that no one should be left behind, no matter how poor or how isolated they are is what I admire most of the RFD philosophy, and something everyone and every country should learn from.
The service they provide is crucial to reduce disparity of health service access and it makes me feel more secure in the outback. Now I know that whatever happens the RFD have our backs.
