Edge Environment to establish the Sydney Industrial Ecology Network

Edge Environment is pleased to announce that we have been awarded an Industrial Ecology Grant from the NSW Environment Protection Authority (EPA) to establish the Sydney Metropolitan Industrial Ecology Network.

This exciting program is part of the NSW Government’s Waste Less, Recycle More initiative to fund the transformation of waste and recycling in NSW. Over the coming year, Edge Environment will engage with over 150 businesses to establish business-to-business relationships to reuse or reprocess waste into resources with the aim of diverting thousands of tonnes of waste from landfill.

The Sydney region offers an opportunity to tap into more than 2.5 million square metres of office fit out material that is currently made redundant each year, including metal and timber desks, chairs, partitions and computer equipment. Working with office churn has the potential to return 3,000 to 4,000 tonnes of metals, timber, glass and plastics to the productive economy each year. Additional opportunities are available in the fast-food industry to look at ways of reducing waste associated with both the preparation and sale of large volumes of food in Sydney. If you have ideas in these spaces and would like to work with us please get in touch.

Tom Davies, Director Edge Environment is the Facilitator for the Sydney Region and will supported by Sarah Bray, Senior Consultant Edge Environment.
