On Saturday 29th March 2014, Edge Environment hosted the Earth Hour Social Media Team for the day. The office was turned into a hub of tweets, posts, pics and stories as the team worked tirelessly to get as much media coverage as possible.
Earth Hour was founded by WWF in Sydney in 2007 and has now been embraced by 7001 cities and 152 nations across the globe. In 2014, Earth Hour focused attention on one of the world’s most iconic and threatened places: Australia’s Great Barrier Reef. At 8.30pm thousands of homes, towns and cities turned their lights off for an hour to provide a moment of solidarity for a more sustainable world and a commitment to the planet.
The Earth Hour base event was hosted in Manly, with the launch of a documentary that looks at what’s happening to the Great Barrier Reef due to climate change and more. You can watch the documentary here.
