{"id":944,"date":"2011-01-17T02:28:01","date_gmt":"2011-01-17T02:28:01","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/edgeenvironment.com\/?p=944"},"modified":"2019-09-27T13:59:09","modified_gmt":"2019-09-27T03:59:09","slug":"a-life-cycle-impact-assessment-method","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/edgeenvironment.com\/us\/2011\/01\/17\/a-life-cycle-impact-assessment-method\/","title":{"rendered":"A Life Cycle Impact Assessment Method"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>This report <a href=\"http:\/\/www.edgeenvironment.com\/docs\/Life+Cycle+Impact+Assessment++-+Part+1+Classification+and+Characterisation+-1.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">A Life Cycle Impact Assessment Method<\/a>, by Jonas Bengtsson and Nigel Howard, was produced as one of the components of a three-year project jointly funded by the Building Products Innovation Council and AusIndustry (referred to as the BPIC\/ICIP project). The aim is to establish a toolkit of resources that will permit comprehensive Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) of building and construction materials and products, building elements and assemblies, and whole buildings in Australia.<\/p>\n<p>The objective of this report is to propose a set of environmental impact categories and characterisation methods for a midpoint Life Cycle Impact Assessment (LCIA) method to allow for consistent <em>level playing field <\/em>comparison between LCA studies.<\/p>\n<p>The approach taken comprised the following major steps:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>review of international best practice<\/li>\n<li>multi-criteria evaluation of available LCIA methods and approaches<\/li>\n<li>assessment of availability and relevance of impact assessment models for Australia<\/li>\n<li>identification of data sources for characterisation of impacts identified and recommended (normalisation and weighting of environmental impacts are reported separately).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>This report is also available from <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bpic.asn.au\/LCIMethodology.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Building Products Life Cycle Inventory<\/a>.<\/p>\n<div>\n<hr size=\"1\" \/>\n<div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This report A Life Cycle Impact Assessment Method, by Jonas Bengtsson and Nigel Howard, was produced as one of the components of a three-year project &hellip;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":5,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"ub_ctt_via":""},"categories":[518,1,20,25,23],"tags":[21],"featured_image_src":null,"author_info":{"display_name":"Jonas Bengtsson","author_link":"https:\/\/edgeenvironment.com\/us\/author\/jonas-bengtsson\/"},"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v16.8 -
