Together, we have developed 10 product category LCAs for food products and detergents, to help Walmart Chile&#8217;s suppliers, merchants and sustainability managers focus their sustainability efforts on key environmental hotspots over the product life cycle. This work has been closely aligned with the Sustainability Measurement and Reporting System (SMRS) of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.sustainabilityconsortium.org\">The Sustainability Consortium<\/a>, with whom we have been collaborating closely. From the work with Walmart, Edge and Fundaci\u00f3n Chile have developed several exciting new projects to engage Chilean industry for the measurement and improvement of their sustainability performance.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.fundacionchile.com\">Fundaci\u00f3n Chile<\/a> is a public-private non-profit organization, which has been working for 35 years with the mission of introducing high impact innovations to Chile&#8217;s economy, through technology transfer and in alliance with local and global knowledge networks. Sustainability is one of its four thematic areas (the others are Human Capital, Food &amp; Biotechnlogy and Digital Technologies).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-image-790 aligncenter\" style=\"margin: 5px; border: 2px solid black;\" title=\"Alejandro Florenzano\" src=\"http:\/\/edgeenvironment.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/AF-247x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"138\" height=\"168\" \/><\/p>\n<div>Alejandro Florenzano is a Project Manager in the Environment &amp; Water Resources area of Fundaci\u00f3n Chile, working on LCA and other sustainability metrics and management projects. He is leading the LCA based research for Fundaci\u00f3n Chile developing the Walmart Sustainability Index initiative to Chile, and is visiting Edge for two weeks in February 2012 to further advance the exchange of experiences, ideas and knowledge between our organizations, and to plan our joint projects for 2012. Alejandro is an environmental civil engineer (MSc in engineering), and he has worked previously as a geochemistry researcher.
