It is a freely available service developed and maintained by the building industry. It provides a nationally consistent and scientifically reliable method and database for conducting Life Cycle Assessment of building products.The following Fifth Estate articles report progress.<\/p>\n<h3><a href=\"http:\/\/www.thefifthestate.com.au\/archives\/21200\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">The Building Products Innovation Council\u2019s Life Cycle Inventory raises the bar<\/a><\/h3>\n<p>The bar for sustainable construction has just been raised. Australia now has the first scientifically reliable and independently validated database for life cycle assessment of building products and its developers say the impact will be impressive.<\/p>\n<p>Click <a href=\"http:\/\/www.thefifthestate.com.au\/archives\/21200\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">here<\/a> to read the full article at Fifth Estate.<\/p>\n<h3><a href=\"http:\/\/www.thefifthestate.com.au\/archives\/31885\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Building products LCI under pressure<\/a><\/h3>\n<p>Edge Environment managing director, Nigel Howard, says that one of the problems is that people haven\u2019t realised what it is yet. We haven\u2019t done a good enough job of explaining it and there\u2019s work to be done there.<\/p>\n<p>The real test of the database is whether LCA tools and labels make use of it, he says.
