Edge Environment<\/em><\/strong>\u2019s monthly <\/em><\/strong>\u2018Make More Good<\/a><\/em><\/strong>\u2019 donation sends $300 to a worthy cause nominated by a staff member. In August, Senior Consultant Joel Clayton chose youth-led climate network\u00a0Seed<\/a> to be the recipient.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

Seed is Australia\u2019s first Indigenous youth\u00ad-led climate network, a movement of people working towards a vision of “a just and sustainable future with strong cultures and communities, powered by renewable energy”. Run by young Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander youth, the network inspires and empowers its people to take action on climate change for the benefit of their communities.<\/p>\n

This mission resonates with me on many levels. Growing up on the South Coast of NSW, I always had a strong connection with the local natural environment and an affinity with Indigenous culture. It just made more sense to me, to value mother nature and take care of the land and environment that sustains us. This connection led me to work in the sustainability field. I always remember that Australia\u2019s first people spent 50,000 years as custodians, living sustainably on this land.<\/p>\n

An organisation such as Seed, that particularly assists the present\/future Indigenous community to continue climate action in the country’s most climate-vulnerable locations is a valuable organisation for sustainability and I’m proud to be able to support it.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
