{"id":1900,"date":"2015-03-05T23:20:41","date_gmt":"2015-03-05T23:20:41","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/edgeenvironment.com\/?p=569"},"modified":"2019-09-27T13:58:43","modified_gmt":"2019-09-27T03:58:43","slug":"brrt-app-use-your-mobile-to-measure-your-propertys-resilience-to-natural-hazards","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/edgeenvironment.com\/us\/2015\/03\/05\/brrt-app-use-your-mobile-to-measure-your-propertys-resilience-to-natural-hazards\/","title":{"rendered":"BRRT App &#8211; Use your mobile to measure your property&#8217;s resilience to natural hazards"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>The ability that a building has to withstand natural hazards depends inherently on its construction materials and design. <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>With natural hazards occurring more frequently and with greater intensity, there is an increasing need to communicate the resilience agenda to a wider audience in order to stimulate homeowners, developers and builders to build with more resilient materials.<\/p>\n<p>To address this, Edge Environment is currently developing a mobile app that takes simple design and construction inputs from the user and communicate in non-technical language where the resilience hot spots are for their dwelling.<\/p>\n<p>The app is based on a tool that Edge Environment has been developing for the past three years. Developed in conjunction with the Insurance Council of Australia, The Building Resilience Rating Tool estimates the resilience of a building by calculating expected costs for damages to the building based on the construction materials, the design, the structure and the natural hazard risk profile of the area.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe BRRT App\u201d currently covers the natural hazards of flood, wind and<span style=\"color: #000000;\"> hail,<\/span> with a planned expansion to bushfire to be included before mid-2015.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/edgeenvironment.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/Screen-Shot-2015-03-27-at-11.51.25-am.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-1041\" src=\"http:\/\/edgeenvironment.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/Screen-Shot-2015-03-27-at-11.51.25-am-233x300.png\" alt=\"Screen Shot 2015-03-27 at 11.51.25 am\" width=\"233\" height=\"300\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The ability that a building has to withstand natural hazards depends inherently on its construction materials and design.
