Inspired by fantastic colleagues I am going to put an electric engine into a Series 1 Land Rover and power it from renewable energy supplied through the grid. Edge Environment’s electricity is provided by wind, so plugging in at work will achieve this. So some statistics: This Series 1 was made in 1955. It currently has a 1.8 litre petrol engine. The car weighs approximately 1150 kilos (a Toyota Corrolla weighs approx 1200). Over the course of the next year or so this Land Rover will be converted to become an electric vehicle. The ultimate plan is to put some solar cells somewhere and see if we can’t have it completely off grid. Hopefully we’ll be able to provide some Life Cycle thinking along the way, solve some problems and even inspire some more electric vehicles……..here we go!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
