Edge Environment\u2019s monthly \u2018Make More Good\u2019 donation sends $300 to a worthy cause nominated by a staff member. In June, 2020, Edge\u2019s Office and Project Administrator, Kirsty Hawkins, chose Bear Cottage<\/a> to be the recipient.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Every month, I read through the blog posts that my colleagues submit for their Make More Good donation, and feel honoured to be amongst such a caring and thoughtful group of people.  I can see that every donation has a lot of thought put into it.  So, when it came around to it being my turn to decide on a charity to donate to, I needed to really delve into what was most important to me and how the donation would impact those around me.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I feel very fortunate to be able to spend most of my time in and around Manly.  My work and family life revolves around life on the peninsula.  Manly\u2019s beauty astounds me and I try to enjoy what it has to offer every day and where possible, with my family by my side.  I am very grateful to have two happy and healthy kids that enjoy my enthusiasm in exploring Manly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I feel a strong need to put back into my community.  There is a never-ending need for volunteers in every community, and I feel very privileged to spend time amongst manly locals that volunteer tireless hours to better their local community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

One such organisation in our local area, that truly inspires me to be grateful for what I have, and that always requires an army of volunteers and fundraisers, is Bear Cottage<\/a>.  Through community support, the Children\u2019s Hospital in Westmead was able to open Bear Cottage in 2001.  Bear Cottage provides support, respite and end-of-life care for children with life-limiting conditions and their families, in a warm, homelike environment.  Bear Cottage provides specialised therapy to children, such as play, music and art therapy as well as family support, social work and specialised camps.  I feel that Bear Cottage<\/a> provides such an important service to these families and that is why I am sending them this months donation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
