In December, Edge\u2019s Managing Director Jonas chose the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.unicef.org\">United Nations International Children&#8217;s Emergency Fund (UNICEF)<\/a> to be the recipient.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Why UNICEF? Climate change is probably one of the most significant issues which will decide what world we will pass on to our kids and their kids. The evidence is indisputable: climate change and environmental degradation undermine the rights of every child, especially the most disadvantaged. A key component of why we work in sustainability is the concept of inter-generational equity. There\u2019s been books written on the topic, but I think <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/commentisfree\/2018\/nov\/26\/im-striking-from-school-for-climate-change-too-save-the-world-australians-students-should-too\">Greta Thunberg, the 15 year old who started the school strikes to protest inaction on climate change<\/a> summarised it well in a paragraph:<\/p>\n<h3>\u201cIf I live to be 100, I will be alive in 2103. Adults often don\u2019t think beyond the year 2050. But by then, I will, in the best case, not have lived half of my life. What we do or don\u2019t do right now will affect my entire life and the lives of my friends, our children and their grandchildren.\u201d<\/h3>\n<p>I donate $300 to UNICEF for their work in 190 countries and territories to save children\u2019s lives, to defend their rights, and to help them fulfil their potential, from early childhood through adolescence.
