As the circular economy expands, our industry will need to understand how to work with Life Cycle Assessment (LCA). The level of interest in life cycle thinking and LCA specifically has picked up significantly in Australia. A significant milestone was reached when LCA was integrated into Green Star rating tools with the introduction of the ‘Materials Life Cycle Impact’ Innovation Challenge and two LCA-based draft credits.
The Green Building Council Australia (GBCA) are committed to providing the skills training and support needed to drive the next evolution of sustainability. To this end, the GBCA have partnered with Edge Environment to provide specialised training on life cycle assessment (2 CPD points). The first of the series was delivered at the GBCA in Sydney on Thursday 25 September. The half day training session was attended by 25+ participants ranging from building product manufacturers, developers, construction companies, designers, facility managers, government and ESD consultants.
Edge’s presenters on the day, Jonas Bengtsson and Jacqui Bonnitcha, report back: “It was clear from the wide range of case studies presented and the dialogue and engagement on the day that industry has moved beyond keeping a watching brief on LCA to now applying it as a practical tool to drive change and innovation”.
The introduction module is also offered as a webinar on Monday the 29th of September if you missed the face to face delivery.
The next face to face training session will be held on the 3rd of November: LCA Course: Product Transparency and Sustainability
