We are excited to have Scott Matyus-Flynn join the Edge team as Head of Sustainability Delivery. Scott shares his passion for creating impact, expertise in the built environment and what brings him to Edge.

What brings you to Edge?
I’ve known Jonas and the team for many years. They’re switched on, passionate, and there are experts in every corner. When we started talking about the opportunity to join Edge and to lead the Sustainability Delivery team, it was a no-brainer. Who wouldn’t want the opportunity to help drive the sustainable transformation of our cities and communities?
Anyone who knows me knows I’m driven by impact and in this decade of action, I wanted the opportunity to impact at scale. Edge is set up really well to do that. It has real strength in depth, with the expertise and ambition to tackle our biggest challenges. And I was also drawn by Edge’s growth here in ANZ and into global markets. The opportunities are huge.
Tell us a bit about your background and how it aligns to your role at Edge
I’ve lived many lives – from sustainability consulting, to running my own business, to leading ‘in-house’ sustainability. I’m also a Board Director for Living Future Institute of Australia. I know first-hand the challenges and pressures facing different organisations in our industry. I’ll be bringing this experience to help the team deliver smooth, practical and fully considered solutions that work for our clients.
Edge’s approach is based on Science, Strategy and Storytelling. I’m a leader in the strategy and storytelling. Now I’m really looking forward to working with the experts in the science part too.
The Sustainability Delivery team has great technical skills. I’m going to help bring a strategic mindset to the team and our projects, with the remit to increase our impact.
The built environment plays an important role in showcasing what’s possible in sustainability. I’ve been lucky enough to work with some real pioneers and changemakers in the built environment. I’m looking forward to continuing this with Edge and to working on the types of impactful and innovative projects Edge is renowned for.
Why do you work in sustainability?
Simply put: we need action. We know what ‘good’ looks like. Examples already exist – globally and here in Australia. My passion is to help get us there quicker and to give practical pathways to the healthy, resilient, inclusive and ecologically regenerative future we all want.
