The current KPI framework for Transport Projects Division was considered to be ‘unfit for purpose’ and in need of a review. The organization is changing and the current targets were in need of a refresh as they were becoming out of date and were already being achieved. The Transport Projects Division is quite progressive in the area of sustainability and was looking to achieve best practice.
Netbalance and Edge Environment were invited to jointly deliver a Strategic Sustainability KPI framework for the Transport Projects Division and the wider TfNSW cluster.
The project undertook a review of best practice KPI frameworks globally which included projects such as the London 2012 Olympics, Barangaroo, NWRL and also Transport organisations such as Network Rail and Transport for London. The project then ran a series of workshops and engaged all the TfNSW agencies in a process of developing a set of KPIs which are material to their needs and fit their strategic goals.
A set of strategic KPIs have now been developed for the whole TfNSW cluster and has been signed off by the Executive. The KPIS will drive the direction of sustainability for TfNSW for the next 3-5 years and will be a standard and consistent framework which is best practice and will allow the agencies to track their own performance and also compare their progress against each other.
