Sustainability Victoria: Green Mortgages Roundtable

Green Mortgage schemes are increasingly being used around the world to drive customers to choose more sustainable homes. Sustainability Victoria was keen to explore whether Green Mortgages could have a place in Australia and, if so, how that might work.

Edge convened a high-level workshop for stakeholders, including developers, banks, housing experts and government representatives. Based on the discussions, Edge developed a report detailing the current state of play for Green Mortgages and how the typical attributes of international schemes and their markets compared with those in Australia. The information was subsequently incorporated into Sustainability Victoria’s green finance programmes, including their work with volume home builders.
