Building Resilience Knowledge Database
Edge Environment has been working on the Resilience Program for seven years, with the key objective of driving a more resilient built environment.
The Building Resilience Knowledge Database (BRKD) is a component of the Resilience Program, designed to develop a rigorous measure of the resilience of building materials and products (as opposed to the BRRT, which rates houses and buildings).
Research was carried out to collect available information regarding the resilience of building materials and products, and assimilate it into one format.
Edge designed a system to assimilate all globally available information on the resilience of different materials and products, and synthesise this into a set of ratings. The continually evolving BRKD is the only database of its kind in Australia. Beyond the original scope, Edge now engages companies to test their building products and present their resilience credentials, so that they may be specified into the resilient buildings of the future.
Edge Environment adds value to the Insurance Council of Australia by understanding the role of insurance in the broader resilience agenda, and providing robust science and advice to support the program.
