As part of its commitment to halve food waste in Victoria by 2030, Sustainability Victoria (SV) needed to develop a roadmap and a series of initiatives that would address key impact hotspots.
Working in collaboration with Lifecycles, Edge undertook a comprehensive analysis of environmental impacts across a range of different food groups. The hotspots identified were presented to and tested with stakeholders, and a long list of candidate initiatives were identified to address them. The potential impact of the initiatives were then modelled to help SV identify priority areas for action.
The completed analysis was subsequently used to inform the Victorian government’s food waste strategy.
