The City of Adelaide is one of Australia’s largest councils. It is working towards carbon neutral operations by 2020 and recently declared a climate emergency. Edge led the development of a climate risk assessment for the City of Adelaide. This involved undertaking a governance assessment, physical risk assessment and transition risk assessment. The project identified 283 risks across the full breadth of council assets, services and key sites related to a range of climate variables including extreme heat, reduced average annual rainfall, and increased intensity of extreme rainfall events. The results of the project have been used to update the corporate risk register and are now being used as the evidence base for developing a council wide climate change adaptation action plan.
