As part of its programme development, Edge delivered a number of pilot projects focussed on waste avoidance. Recruits into the the initiative included adventure sports manufacturers and retailers, food and beverage retailers, fashion stores and construction companies.
The project included a number of collaborative workshops, bringing together actors from across value chains to explore opportunities to reduce waste at source. This resulted in the identification of a wide range of waste avoidance initiatives spanning product design, packaging, reduced use of problem materials, and improved customer information.
