I specialise in using a combination of analytical and synthesis skills to ensure sustainability is integrated holistically into each client’s company; complemented by a focus on stakeholder engagement, which is essential for ensuring the long-term success and sustainability of each project. My experience with both qualitative and quantitative analyses puts me in good stead to work in a role where one minute I’m calculating the recycled content of products, and next minute writing a sustainability report. This work fosters my love of learning new processes and systems and taking on new challenges.
My favorite projects are those in which I am able to bring new understanding or processes to a company. A great learning experience for me was when I guided a company through its first materiality assessment. Once we got to the final report, the company was able to clearly see what impact they could have with their stakeholders and where their opportunities and risks were highest. I also love projects that make financial sense as well as sustainability sense. Creating and managing a zero-waste program allowed me to really focus on the financial implications of waste and communicate that to the company. It was a lot of fun to be able to bring the different stakeholders together, lay out a straightforward plan and track our success with real data.
I have a B.A. in Sustainable Community Development from Northland College and will be receiving my M.S. in Sustainable Management from the University of Wisconsin – Parkside in December 2021.
I work in sustainability because our future depends on it. I grew up learning about climate science and substantial global warming trends, and this work is imperative to both slow climate change and adapt to its effects. The goal of my career is to work myself out of a job.
When I’m not working, you’ll usually find me dancing! I love salsa, bachata, swing dancing and anything else I can learn. I also love walking, reading, playing piano and crafting. Any other free time is spent serving on the board of the Waukesha County Green Team, where I co-host our podcast, GreenCast.
