At Edge, I leverage my value chain, sustainable agriculture, environmental, business, agribusiness, sustainability knowledge to design smart solutions for our clients.
My job entails engaging new clients to understand the Natural Climate Solutions (NCS) needs, challenges, developing and recommending approaches for meeting those needs. I also guide Edge project teams in developing and implementing solutions for clients to increase sustainability within the food value chain. We use the best science related to soils, water, agroforestry, and other areas as relevant to the team’s work in support of clients.
I love interdisciplinary and collaborative projects which cut across disciplines and geographical boundaries. These projects could focus on agribusiness, sustainability, climate change, forestry and agroforestry, green infrastructure, business solutions, and change impacts on rural development and resilience within agricultural commodity value chains.
I have a B.S. in Agroforestry and Rural Development from Moi University in Kenya, an MSC in Urban Forestry minor GIS and Remote Sensing from Southern University and A & M College, a PhD in Environmental Dynamics from University of Arkansas. I am currently an MBA candidate (Supply Chain management and Entrepreneurship) at Sam Walton College of Business – University of Arkansas.
I work in sustainability because the fundamental problem in the world today is food, water and energy. Although average global food production may not change much by 2050, climate change, urbanization and water scarcity will continue to exacerbate global food insecurity due to their impacts on global agriculture. These impacts will differ dramatically across different geographical regions, with poor regions being particularly vulnerable to increased climate variability and extreme weather events. Sustainability offers the most feasible and actionable remedies for management of finite resources for future generations.
In my spare time I enjoy spending time with my family, sightseeing, leisure reading and listening to Rhumba, acoustic music and volunteering on environmental causes.
