With 10 years public relations experience under my belt, I specialise in sustainability brand positioning and communications, treating socio-ecological problems as a starting point for my strategies.
Some of my specialist skills include media relations, brand positioning, stakeholder engagement, public affairs, public relations strategy and execution, event management, and copywriting.
I also bring with me a unique background in documentary filmmaking as a producer and content editor which has given me the skills to question and mine for the best stories that generate high-quality outcomes for my clients.
My favourite projects typically involve conceptual thinking, solving complex problems, initiating change at a leadership level and bringing important socio-ecological issues to life through compelling and authentic storytelling.
Some of my proudest work to date has included:
– Successfully producing and releasing an independent documentary with my partner called Our Power. It follows the Hazelwood Mine Fire in the Latrobe Valley in 2014, documenting the socio-environmental issues facing mining communities including their health outcomes, and the responsibility of businesses in such communities as they transition towards a sustainable future.
– Having the opportunity to work with the UN Global Compact Network Australia and positioning them within media as the trusted advisor and advocate for responsible business. This included workshopping and writing UNGCNA’s ten recommendations for the Federal Budget and 2022 Election across climate action, anti-bribery and corruption, and human rights.
– Cementing Blackmores Group’s position within top-tier media outlets as a responsible business, with strong leadership and net-zero targets.
I completed a Bachelor’s Degree in Professional Communication (Film and Public Relations) at RMIT University and subsequently completed my Honours Degree in Public Relations.
Recently, I finished my studies in Business Sustainability Management at the University of Cambridge’s Institute for Sustainability Leadership. One of the best courses I’ve ever done. It was extremely insightful and motivated me to go full steam ahead within this industry.
I work in sustainability because I am first and foremost a climate activist, having seen firsthand the impacts of mining on communities like the Latrobe Valley and the Hunter Valley. Ever since a young age, I have also had a very strong connection to land and sea, and I want to be able to see the earth thrive once again, in my lifetime…. I remain an optimist.
In my spare time, I am an avid reader (thrillers, crime, thought-provoking fiction) and have recently picked up yoga and pilates. I am also a proud dog mum to my blue-ribbon champion King Charles Cavalier Spaniel, Zay.
