Edge Environment’s monthly ‘Make More Good’ donation sends $300 to a worthy cause nominated by a staff member. In September 2020, Edge’s Sustainability Consultant, Vaibhav Gaikwad, chose the Yalari Foundation to be the recipient.
I am immensely thankful to Edge for the ‘Make More Good’ initiative and the opportunity to direct this month’s donation for a cause I wholeheartedly believe in – ‘Equitable access to education’.
Education is a fundamental human right. I believe that it is vital for each and every child on this planet to have access to quality education if we are to have any chance in solving some of the world’s biggest problems including climate change. Educational scholarships, especially for children who have been disadvantaged due to social, geographical or any other reason are one of the many ways in which we can support these bright young minds to achieve their fullest potential.
With that in mind, I am sending my ‘Make More Good’ donation to the Yalari foundation who have been providing indigenous children in Australia the opportunity to receive a full boarding school scholarship for their entire secondary education for the past 15 years. Their mission is to ‘educate and empower Indigenous children from regional, rural and remote communities to bring about generational change’. As of 2020, there are over 200 students on Yalari scholarships nationally and I am truly inspired by the work that the foundation is doing in enriching the lives of these children
I look forward to hearing many more success stories from the Yalari alumini!
