This week, Edge Environment is attending and presenting at the 9th biennial conference of the International Society for Industrial Ecology and the 25th annual conference of the International Symposium on Sustainable Systems and Technology in Chicago, USA.
This year’s joint conference of the International Society for Industrial Ecology and the International Symposium on Sustainable Systems and Technology, held in Chicago from June 25–29, focuses on ‘Science in Support of Sustainable Communities’. The conference is exploring concepts of waste, industrial ecology, resilience and urban design through the application of sound sustainability science.
Edge Environment’s Blake Lindley is presenting two topics at the conference: The evolution of industrial ecology in Australia and Closing the loop on office refurbishment: addressing waste through collective action. In these presentations, Blake is highlighting the need for policy and governance based on academic research to support businesses to achieve practical results in sustainability. A practical application of latest thinking in these fields is provocation for continual improvement in the application of science to the built environments, and guidance for innovation in sustainability rating tools.
The conference attracts some of the world’s brightest academics to discuss their work across the broad spectrum of sustainability.
