Interactive approached us with the goal of becoming Australia’s most sustainable IT services provider. Our work on their debut sustainability strategy put them firmly on that path.
Interactive is Australia’s largest privately owned IT services company. While they had implemented a number of social and environmental initiatives prior to approaching Edge, these had been somewhat ad-hoc. Recognising a growing interest in sustainability from customers, staff and the wider community, the company’s leaders decided that they needed to develop an ambitious sustainability strategy that they could use to differentiate themselves in the market. Aiming high, the brief was to help them become Australia’s most sustainable IT services provider.
Over the following months, our team worked closely with the Interactive project team to develop a sustainability strategy that addressed their long term environmental, social and community base impacts. The process included a detailed assessment of their footprint, as well as a comprehensive materiality assessment which identified the issues that were important to their key stakeholders both within and outside the company. Following this, we used a series of workshops to set the sustainability vision, identify and prioritise initiatives, and develop a detailed action plan for putting the strategy into practice.
Interactive now have an ambitious strategy in place: Blueprint for Better. It sets the agenda for them for the next five years, and a full-time manager in place to oversee its implementation. As an early sign of intent, the company subsequently signed up to the RE100 program, committing them to 100% renewable energy by 2025 – putting them well on track to meet their sustainability ambition, and to help their customers do the same. Edge remain involved as on-going strategic and implementation advisors across their sustainability program.
