{"id":862,"date":"2012-08-13T06:24:18","date_gmt":"2012-08-13T06:24:18","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/edgeenvironment.com\/?p=862"},"modified":"2019-09-27T13:59:03","modified_gmt":"2019-09-27T03:59:03","slug":"retailer-sustainability-strategy-edge-presentation-at-the-international-lca-food-conference-in-st-malo","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/edgeenvironment.com\/cl\/2012\/08\/13\/retailer-sustainability-strategy-edge-presentation-at-the-international-lca-food-conference-in-st-malo\/","title":{"rendered":"Retailer Sustainability Strategy &#8211; Edge presentation at the International LCA Food Conference in St Malo"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3 align=\"left\">LCA-based hotspot analysis of food products to inform major Chilean retailer\u2019s sustainability strategy<\/h3>\n<p>Edge Environment and Fundaci\u00f3n Chile are presenting at the International Conference on LCA in the Agri-Food sector (2 to 4 October 2012) in St Malo, France.<\/p>\n<p>Our paper reports on a project with a major Chilean retailer to: engage their merchants and suppliers to focus efforts on science-based hotspots; provide a starting point for industry engagement to begin implementation of management practices based on life cycle information; and develop a product category specific measurement and reporting system. Product category life cycle assessments (LCAs) have been carried forward for nine food products \u2013 milk, chicken meat, blueberries, apples, grapes, avocados, wine, beer and pasta \u2013 using a common methodology.
