\"\"We were all shocked and saddened to hear the news of the attacks in Paris on Friday and in Beirut, just one day prior. We extend our deepest sympathies to all people affected by these tragedies.<\/p>\n

In nine\u00a0days\u00a0the Paris COP21 will begin.\u00a0 WWF expects political leaders to deliver a fair, ambitious and transformative global climate agreement.\u00a0 And while a spirit of compromise will be important to reach a final agreement in Paris,\u00a0there can be no compromise on the level of ambition\u00a0<\/em>we need to address the climate crisis.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

At the moment, the commitments governments have made will delivered a planet warming above 2.7o<\/sup>C.\u00a0 This isn\u2019t good enough! Leaders need to prioritise a plan to address the emissions gap, regularly increase this ambition over time and provide a finance mechanism to catalyse a just transition to a safer and renewable energy world.<\/p>\n

Companies can do their part to reduce emissions, and\u00a0ambitious climate action makes sense for both the planet and profits. WWF has been working with CDP, UN Global Compact and the We Mean Business Coalition to get companies to sign up to a range of climate change commitments, including setting science-based greenhouse gas emission reduction targets. Some of this work and company commitments will be featured at the Caring for Climate Business Forum on 7\/8 December running in parallel to the Paris COP.
