\"Green<\/a>Edge Environment and the Better Buildings Partnership<\/a> have been selected as 2015 Green Globes finalists in the category of Waste and Recycling.<\/p>\n

Edge Environment and the Better Buildings Partnership have worked hard over the past year to reduce building strip out waste sent to landfill in the Sydney CBD. Strip out waste is generated by tenants whose lease has ended removing their tenancy fit out in order to satisfy ‘make-good’ clauses within their lease.<\/p>\n

Engaging recycling facilities, new technology providers, contractors and building owners, this project is moving the industry toward a target of 80% resource recovery from office strip out.<\/p>\n

The 2015 award finalists are spread across 16 award categories, ranging from industry-experts to famous iconic Sydney buildings and from small community groups to\u00a0global brands. Projects cover innovation, leadership, resource efficiency, sustainability and wildlife and habitat restoration.<\/p>\n

Finalists were chosen by an independent panel of leading environmental experts in the fields of energy, water, waste, sustainability and environmental research and academia. “Nominees are now addressing sustainability across more areas of their business than ever before, with many looking at long-term visions, social and shared value, and holistic initiatives, rather than simply their short-term goals,\u201d said Mr Mellon.<\/p>\n

The winners will be announced at the Green Globe Awards Ceremony on\u00a0Thursday, 15 October at the Art Gallery of NSW, Sydney. The Premier\u2019s Award for Environmental Excellence<\/em>, which is considered the ‘best-of-the-best’, will also be announced at the event.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
