Focusing on sustainability within the built environment, Green Cities\u2019 program features international keynote speakers, networking events, green building site tours and educational master classes.<\/p>\n<p>Edge Environment contributed to Green Cities by presenting at the <em>Materials Matter<\/em> and <em>Reflections on Resilience<\/em> master classes.<\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"color: #333333;\">Materials Matter<\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Building sustainability is about more than design. The procurement process and materials selected can be the difference between a good and a great green building.<\/p>\n<p>Edge Environment Director Jonas Bengtsson presented on life cycle assessment methods, the importance of choosing certified sustainable products and how to select products that will improve the environmental outcomes of your building.<\/p>\n<p>The master class also featured presentations by Jorge Chapa (Executive Director Green Star Technical Development and Operations, GBCA), Rupert Posner (CEO, Good Environmental Choice Australia) and Nicole Sullivan (Senior Technical Advisor, BlueScope Steel).<\/p>\n<h2>Reflections on Resilience<\/h2>\n<p>Improving the resilience and adaptability of the built environment to major shocks and incremental social changes is essential to secure Australia\u2019s long-term future.<\/p>\n<p>Edge Environment Director Tom Davies presented on the true definition of resilience, how to assess it and how to improve the adaptability of your building, community or city.<\/p>\n<p>The master class also featured presentations by Adam Davis (KPMG), Greg Johnson (National Environment Manager, Stockland) and Jeremy Mansfield (Sustainability Manager, Lend Lease and Corporate Volunteer, Green Cross Australia).<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Green Cities is an annual conference co-hosted by the Green Building Council of Australia and Property Council of Australia.
